The Plate is for Salad

I had two friends over for dinner last night and I kept it nutritarian style. I served a Moroccan-style stew with chick peas, cauliflower and carrots in a tomato-based sauce, and large green salad.

I didn’t have my normal lunchtime salad that day so when I was setting the table I was looking at the salad bowl wondering how I was going to get enough salad in it. Then it dawned on me — we could eat the stew first in the bowl, and then I could clear the bowls and  we could use the dinner plate for the salad.

It worked out great! My guests liked it and the whole meal in general. The entire evening was a success, and it felt good to know that I could entertain while still sticking with the plan.

From now on — the plate is for salad!
