I know what you’re thinking — finally, something sweet! This recipe is so delicious that it seems like it should be forbidden, but the ingredients are all good, so enjoy! This recipe makes one generous serving.
Brownie Batter Oatmeal
1/2 cup old fashioned oats
1 tablespoon flax meal
1 tablespoon non-alkalized cocoa powder
1/4 cup dates blended into 1 cup water
- Mix all ingredients. Heat in microwave for 1.5 minutes.
- Let sit 1 additional minute.
Note: non-alkalized cocoa powder has twice the phytonutrients as alkalized or “dutched” cocoa powder. But if you prefer the taste of the “dutched” cocoa powder you can just use more for the same nutritional benefit. At only 14 calories per tablespoon it won’t greatly add to the calories.
